Little hands, a breakfast bowl of their own
An easy way to share the kitchen: choose, spoon, arrange and tidy up together.
Kitchen

Set up before you start
Choose a bowl, a spoon and ingredients your household already uses. An adult should check the package ingredients and prepare any fruit that needs cutting. Put a small amount of each topping in separate dishes so the table stays manageable.
Offer a clear job
Invite your child to spoon cereal into the bowl, arrange prepared fruit or choose where each topping goes. Make the task small enough to finish. For a layered bowl, take turns adding a spoonful of yoghurt, cereal and fruit; add cereal near serving time if you prefer its crunch.
Make tidying part of the recipe
End with one shared job: collect the spoons, wipe the table or put unused ingredients away. Ask which combination your child would like to make again. Write it down with a drawing so next time starts with their idea.
